Adamu Mu’azu resigns as PDP Chairman
The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Adamu Muazu, has resigned.
His resignation, according to him, is due to health issues.
The Spokesman for the PDP, Olisa Metuh, told Channels Television that Mr Muazu turned in his letter of resignation and that his decision had been accepted by the party’s National Working Committee.
Mr Muazu had been the chairman for about a year, after he took over from Mr Bamanga Tukur who stepped down under intense party crisis
Before his resignation, there were reports that the National Chairman of the PDP, Adamu Muazu, who before now was addressed as “the game changer”, may have jetted out of the country to evade being forced to convene a meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party, where he may be asked to resign.
Mr Muazu has been under intense pressure to quit his position as the party Chairman following the PDP’s poor showing in the March and April 2015 general elections.
The party’s leadership had blamed the state governors elected on the platform of the PDP, and some other leaders, for its electoral failure.
