Tottenham insist Hugo Lloris is NOT going to Real Madrid

Tottenham Hotspur has moved to dismiss tabloid reports suggesting the club is open to bids for goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Media reports on Sunday night claimed Spurs will sell the France captain to Real Madrid in a 32 million euro move, despite him signing a fresh five-year contract extension in July.

However, a club spokesman told Goal: "There is no substance to the Sun's story - it's mischief making. We have talented players so we have to expect this sort of thing."

The 28-year-old was asked by L'Equipe in November if he regretted extending his stay in north London, to which he insisted that he was happy as he had trust in Mauricio Pochettino and the staff.

Lloris has been in fine form for Tottenham this season, keeping nine clean sheets in 26 games while he has also captained the side after Younes Kaboul lost his place in the starting XI.

Coach Pochettino hailed his goalkeeper after a man-of-the-match display in the 0-0 home draw with Manchester United, stating: "Lloris is one of the best keepers in the world. It's not new for me, we know the quality of Hugo."

Spurs travel to face Premier League rival Burnley in the FA Cup third round on Monday night.
