Second explosion rocks Kaduna; ...Buhari escapes death, scores dead

Former Head of State and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari escaped death today after another bomb exploded under Kawo bridge, Kaduna.

Buhari, a presidential flag bearer of Congress for Progressive Change in 2011 escaped the bomb blast which left scores injured.

Kaduna police spokesman Aminu Lawan said casualty figures were not yet clear for the second blast in the Kawo area of the city, a few kilometres from the scene of the bombing on the convoy of Dahiru Bauchi, a cleric who has publicly criticised Boko Haram Islamists.


Three aides and security personnel travelling with General Muhammadu Buhari, former Nigerian leader, were injured in the 2nd Kaduna Bomb Blast at Kawo today.

The aides and Buhari were on their way to Daura, Buhar’s home town.

A statement by Buhari’s media office, said The Bomb blast was said to be targeted at Buhari as the bombers trailed his convoy and detonated the bomb very close to his convoy injuring his security and personal aides.

However, the General is in good condition apart from the trauma of the incidence, said the statement by Jasper Azuatalam.
