"Every game is a must-win [for Arsenal fight for a top-four finish]" - Wenger
Arsene Wenger concedes Arsenal must not drop any more points if they are to keep up the fight for a top-four finish.
The Gunners make the short trip across London on Sunday for their eagerly-awaited meeting with Tottenham and it is a must-win for Wenger’s men as they currently sit four points behind their opponents in the table.
With just ten games remaining after the weekend, Wenger knows Sunday’s match could play a big role in where both teams finish in the league and the Frenchman concedes it is a match his side cannot afford to lose.
“We cannot drop points. Every game is a must-win game. We will have the same approach [on Sunday],” he told reporters at Friday’s pre-match press conference.
“It will be important to stay calm and focused. The game on Sunday will have a psychological importance for the rest of the season. In the last 12 games, we’ve won nine. We’ve made 28 points out of 36.
“It’s a derby and [will be] a very intense game as usual. We have a good record in the last 15 or 16 years and we want to maintain that.”
Gareth Bale has played a huge role in Tottenham’s climb to third in the table, scoring nine times in his last seven appearances for Spurs and he is one man the Gunners must try and stop.
“Wenger, however, insists his side have no concerns about facing the in-form Welshman.
“There is no player that you are scared to meet,” he declared.
