Branislav Ivanovic takes full responsibility for Chelsea's Capital One Cup semi-final defeat by Swansea
Branislav Ivanovic apologised to the Chelsea team after his disastrous performance in last night's Capital One Cup semi-final defeat by Swansea.
The Chelsea defender was at fault for both goals as Michael Laudrup's side secured an incredible 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.
Ivanovic was furious with his performance and had to be calmed down when he made his way down the tunnel and into the home dressing room.
He then said sorry to his team-mates for mistakes which led to Michu opened the scoring and substitute Danny Graham adding Swansea's second in injury time.
Chelsea interim manager Rafa Benitez defended the centre half but Ivanovic has taken full responsibility for the defeat. It was easily the worst performance of the Serb's career at Stamford Bridge and it is unusual for him to be so careless.
Chelsea need to win by two goals to take the tie in to extra-time but they face a massive battle to face Aston Villa or Bradford in next month's final at Wembley.
