Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin close to Arsenal switch

Jose Mourinho has paved the way for Nuri Sahin to join Arsenal.

The Gunners want the Real Madrid midfielder to initially join on a season-long loan as boss Arsene Wenger continues his rebuilding.

Real chief Mourinho admits Turkish ace Sahin, 23, may be better off leaving after playing out of position in a 5-1 friendly win over LA Galaxy.

The Special One said: “He’s a young boy, he wants to play every match.”

Xabi Alonso, Sami Khedira, Lassana Diarra and Mesut Ozil are all ahead in the pecking order.

Mourinho added: “We are not an easy club, because we demand a lot. We have great players, and when you don’t start well, it is difficult.”

Spurs have also been chasing Sahin, who now may be released in time to join Arsenal on their private training camp in Germany next week.

The squad leaves on Monday and Wenger is confident Malaga midfielder Santi Cazorla, 27, will team-up with them by midweek — once his £20million move is rubber-stamped.
