Luis Suarez signs new long-term contract with Liverpool

Luis Suarez has committed his future to Liverpool by signing a new long-term contract.

Suarez, who is wanted by Italian giants Juventus, linked up with Reds boss Brendan Rodgers for the first time on Monday after playing for Uruguay at the Olympic Games.

He trained at Melwood on Tuesday morning as Rodgers prepares his squad for the start of the Premier League campaign at West Bromwich on August 18.

The club are due to make an official announcement at 5pm on Tuesday after their own television channel accidentally broadcast the news earlier in the day.

A news bulletin at around 2pm started: 'Liverpool today confirmed Luis Suarez has signed a new long-term contract with the club.

'The Uruguayan forward committed his future to the Reds by putting pen to paper on a deal on Tuesday afternoon.

Suarez signed from Ajax in January 2011 for £22.8million and has scored 21 goals in 52 games.
