Fatal accident claimed the lives of 2 traditional rulers in Niger state

Two traditional rulers were, on Monday, killed in an auto crash that occurred along the Minna-Kataregi-Bida Highway, Niger State.

The victims were: the district head, Jibrin Kaka, and the village head, Baba Muhammad of Bisanti Community in Katcha Local Government Area of the state.

An eyewitness said the accident occurred when a driver of a pickup van coming from Bida lost control and rammed into the victims.

He said the vehicle swerved to the other lane, in the process crushing the traditional rulers who were on a motorcycle. The victims died before any medical assistance could be given to them.

The witness said the corpses of the rulers and other victims had been taken to the Bida General Hospital.

Sources in the village said the late traditional rulers were returning home after the third day (Fidau) prayers of a dead friend in a nearby village, when the accident occurred.

The State Police Command spokesperson, Pius Edobor, confirmed the accident, saying the police had commenced investigation into the incident.
