Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago close to Valencia switch

Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago is edging closer to a move to Valencia as his agent is currently in talks with Valencia president Manuel Llorente.

The player's representative Marcelo Lombilla confirm that he is in discussions to thrash out Gago's contract and an agreement could be reached soon.

The Argentina international is currently deemed surplus to requirements by Jose Mourinho at the Santiago Bernebeu and spent last term on loan at Italian side Roma, where he made 31 appearances in all competitions.

Gago, 26, has expressed his desire to stay in La Liga and now looks set to play his football under Mauricio Pellegrino at the Mestalla next season.
