"Don't Harass Citizens Or Abuse Human Rights" - IGP Cautions Police Officers
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar, Wednesday cautioned officers against harassing citizens, warning that the force will no longer condone abuse of human rights.
Abubakar gave the warning while receiving 60 Hilux vans and 1,000 motor cycles donated to Sokoto Police Command by the state government at Government House, Sokoto. He maintained that the era of police harassing innocent citizens is over, hence the need for them to be civil while carrying out their duties.
The police chief warned that the abuse of human rights would not be tolerated from any officer no matter his rank.
"You must be civil, you must not harass and intimidate citizens but must operate within the confines of the law and protect them. We will no longer condone any form of recklessness or abuse of human rights from any officer no matter his rank or position in the force,” Abubakar stressed.
